Did you know that there is only one type of hummingbird that is native to Florida? That's right! The Ruby-Throated hummingbird is the only one of it's kind that lives and nests in Florida. All others are just "snow birds" passing through to their nesting destination up north.
The Ruby-throated hummingbird is the most commonly seen hummingbird in Florida, since it is also the only hummingbird that lives in Florida year-round. Feeding on the sweet nectar of red and orange flowers, it needs a natural habitat in order to survive. You can help these little guys thrive in Florida with your donations to Keep Florida Wild.
