Florida Housing Boom

Population growth in Southwest Florida is among the fastest in the state. Over the past ten years, the population of Southwest Florida has grown by 16.25%, amounting to approximately 220,000 new residents. Projections show the area’s population growth trend will continue unabated.

Because of this influx of new residents, our area is seeing a housing construction boom. Developers are eager to cash in on the demand for new homes. Large tracts of land are being cleared for developments, most of them of substantial size. These tracts of land were home to native plants and animals, and new habitats are getting harder and harder to find for those that survive the relentless land clearing. Wildlife and habitat loss seem to be an afterthought when a new development is announced.

Keep Florida Wild Land Conservation was created to provide vacant land for wildlife to live their best lives in a highly populated area.
